Our Community

Are you interested in gardening and meeting new people, and you want to grow food or flowers but have little or no space?  If so we are trying to improve the look of the churchyard, which is located at the center of the town's conservation area.

Each year since we launched our community garden project in 2015, we provide a shallow raised bed for herbs or salad and a deeper tub for the community to use.  Anyone is welcome to come and "potter"in the veg patch at the side of the tower: to water, weed and then to share in the harvest.

We meet as the Community Garden Group on the 1st Saturday in the month, to manage the bigger jobs in the churchyard needing more hands. Calderdale Council help us with the walls, graves and trees but we'd love more help with  weeding, pruning and maintaining the visibility of all the fantastic memorial inscriptions.

If you want to join us and help in any way, with as much or little time as you have please visit our contact us page for more details

Community Events

Over the course of the year, we hold many community events, from holding our weekly coffee mornings on a Tuesday and Saturday, both from 10am to taking part in Rushbearing, Heritage Open Day and Christmas Fairs.  Where possible we also work with the traders and businesses within the town, check our calender to see what we are doing and when
