Welcome to the "Meet Our Team" page, where you can get to know the dedicated individuals who play a crucial role in the life of Christ Church. Each member of our team brings their unique talents and passion to our community, supported by an invaluable group of volunteers who assist with essential roles such as PCC Secretary, Treasurer,Parish Safeguarding officer and a host of others. Together, we work to ensure our church remains a vibrant, welcoming place for everyone. Explore the bios below to learn more about the people who help make our church a special place.

 

Revd. Tommy- Vicar

Revd. Tommy Daglish and his family joined Christ Church as our vicar on September 1, 2023. He was ordained a deacon on July 10, 2020, and subsequently a priest on June 29, 2021, both times by the Bishop of Durham, the Rt. Revd. Paul Butler.

Tommy began his ministry by serving his curacy at St. Andrew's Church in Durham. His experience and dedication to his calling have been a blessing to our congregation, and we are thrilled to have him lead our community in faith and service.

Mrs Alyssa Callighan- Churchwarden

Alyssa Callighan is Churchwarden at Christ Church, Sowerby Bridge. A mum and step-mum, she balances family life alongside her work and is currently working towards completing her Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship. Alyssa has a deep personal connection to Christ Church, having been both baptised and married here, and is passionate about helping others feel as welcomed and supported as she and her family have been. She is committed to serving the church and supporting its role at the heart of the local community.

Mr Dave Gill - Churchwarden

Dave Gill has been a dedicated member of Christ Church for several years and has found his calling as a churchwarden. In this role, he is deeply involved in maintaining the church and its grounds, often seen working diligently to ensure everything is in top condition. Dave’s hands-on approach and commitment to the upkeep of our church reflect his strong sense of duty and care for our community. His contributions are a vital part of keeping our church a welcoming and well-maintained space for all.

Mrs Angela Wilkins - Pastoral Care

Angela Wilkins has been a cherished member of our congregation for many years. Recently, she has taken on the important role of pastoral care for baptisms, serving as a welcoming and supportive first contact for families arranging this special occasion. In addition to her work with baptisms, Angela also contributes to the beauty of our church by helping to arrange the flowers. Her dedication to both pastoral care and the visual appeal of our church makes her a valued member of our team.

Mrs Donna Daglish - Junior Church Leader

Donna along with assistance from church members runs the weekly Junior Church, which is held during the main Sunday Morning Service.  Junior Church follow an age appropriate session which reflects the main service.  They do arts and crafts as well as play games and listen to stories from the bible

Mrs Glenis McCarthy - Parish Safeguarding Officer

Glenis McCarthy, a lifelong member of Christ Church, serves as our dedicated Parish Safeguarding Officer. With deep-rooted commitment to our community, Glenis ensures that our church environment remains safe and nurturing for everyone. Her extensive experience and unwavering dedication to safeguarding reflect her profound care for the well-being of all members, especially the vulnerable. Glenis's role is crucial in upholding our church’s commitment to safety and creating a supportive space for all.
