Sowerby Bridge High Street Heritage Action Zone: Why Sowerby Bridge? Why Not?

PEOPLE OF SOWERBY BRIDGE, WE NEED YOU! We’re making a film:

WHY SOWERBY BRIDGE? (Why Not?)

If you live, work, study or visit Sowerby Bridge we want to know what you think.  We want to hear about your experiences in the town, from long ago to right now.

What do you think is special about the area and its heritage?

Have you any views or stories about the town’s historic buildings and the people who’ve lived and traded in them?

What events you’ve been to in the town in the past and what would you like to see in the future?

Send us your stories and ideas …

If you have a memory of life in Sowerby Bridge, an opinion about life here, or a vision for the future of the town please let us know, either by making and sending us a short video, letter, picture, photograph or card.  Be as creative as you like, you can express yourself through songs, music, poems, dance, drawings, sketches, filmed performances, conversations or monologues.

Digital formats (videos, photos, songs etc) can be sent to https://form.whysb.org.uk/wsb and/or cards, pictures or photos, with your contact details, (name, email or phone number) can be posted in our post boxes at:

Hawdon Russell Architects, 52 Wharf Street, Sowerby Bridge HX6 2AE

Sowerby Bridge Library, Hollins Mill Lane, Sowerby Bridge HX6 2QG

Artichoke Natural Foods, 11 Ryburn Buildings, HX6 3AH

Whatever is submitted may be used in the film and/or will be retained in an archive at Sowerby Bridge Library and will inspire the Heritage Action Zone programme.  Some of these contributions will be selected by the film maker and cultural consortium and be used to create the Why Sowerby Bridge? Why Not? video, to be screened in March 2021 to tell the world about what makes Sowerby Bridge Sowerby Bridge.

More information is available on our website www.whysb.org.uk

The ideas you contribute will help shape the activities for the Sowerby Bridge High Street Heritage Action Zone 2020-2024. This scheme, funded by Historic England in partnership with Calderdale Council and Fire & Water, brings money and support to revitalise the town centre, including events and works to improve buildings and public spaces.
